Do you remember the Facebook class of Stanford (circa 2007)? Facebook opened up it's platform for third party developers and so students got together, in a 10 week course and started building these apps. What was the result? They started making millions of dollars- something like $30 million was generated at the end of six months.

What they had figured out was mass interpersonal persuasion and what we have done since then is started to look at how you can systematically design behavior at scale using these technologies.
